Me - Geoffrey's Restaurant, Malibu 1993

Beautiful location.  I drove her all around Pacific Coast Highway and through Topanga Canyon.  She stayed a week with me in Palm Springs (no quakes that week)! and then she went back home on the train.  She told me on the way to California the train stopped in downtown Chicago around noon and she enjoyed walking around Chicago and having lunch.  She didn't travel much so this was a fun experience for her.

No more blonde hair and never going back!  My mother came out to L.A. to visit - on a train; Amtrak.  She would not fly.  These pictures were taken at Geoffrey's in Malibu.  I lived in LA. from 1989 - 1995, although I was living in Palm Springs in 1993.  I worked as the Editoral Director on the 1993 Official Country Music Directory.  You could say it was my introduction to country music.  I guess you could also say I discovered the music of Marty Stuart and Travis Tritt.  We went to the ACM Awards at Universal that week.

Ok, who's who.....I'm the baby, center.  My sister, Susan is behind me.  Susan (Wheeler) Garner 1952 - 1996 and my cousins Ken (left) and Jim (right).  I don't know how old I am, maybe 2?  That would make Susan 12 and Jim about 19?  Don't know exactly.  Jim and Ken are the sons of Michel and Natt Begun.  Picture taken around 1963-1964?
Picture
Jim Begun. I wonder what he's playing.

Me at 3!  Looking at my sister's hair this had to be 1965 and she would have been 13.

1968.  Me in yellow.  This looks like Easter Sunday.  My sister is in white (far right).  My mother is behind me.  Aunt Mary, next to my sister and the rest are just a few of my cousins on my mother's side of the family.  Go Ireland!

I don't know the history of this photo.  My Mom.  I can tell she had not only her hair professionally done but also her makeup and nails.  I'm guessing late 1960's.
Cool picture Mom.

Tiffany and me through the years  (1984 - 1995)

I found Tiffany in Kew Gardens, Queens NY in 1984.  She lived with me in New York and then with my New York roommate who brought her back to Baltimore to live with her.

In 1995 it took her a minute or two to remember me.  Then she immediately sat in my lap like she did when she was younger.

Rabbi Zvi Hirsch Levin
1807 - 1887

The Judaica Library of the Jewish Studies Center is named for a major figure in 19th century Charleston Jewish history.

Rabbi Hirsch Zvi Margolis Levin was born in Lithuania in 1807. He was the son of a rabbi and the descendant of a long line of rabbis which included Rashi in the 11th century and Yomtov Lipman Heller (“Tosfos Yomtov”), the great 17th century commentator and Chief Rabbi of Prague, Vienna and Krakow. Rabbi Levin received his ordination from one of the great Lithuanian yeshivot and settled in his wife’s hometown of Wirballin.
