Ok, this is really hysterical. Centaur and Satyr Arguing. This miniature was created in 1931. The height is approximately 1 1/2 inches.
Some wonderful creations which include The Devil on Ice Skates, The Butterflies, Deborah, Elijah, Three Generals Carrying a Dead Victory, The God of War Auctioning off Napoleon's Horse and Clothes After his Defeat, and others are displayed in the photo gallery below. The images were scanned from very old photographs and the quality of the photographs are far from perfect, but these miniatures are a very important part of the Louis Rosenthal Museum.
Three Generals Carrying a Dead Victory
He makes us laugh at the futility of war by giving Alexander, Caesar and Napoleon the menial job of trying to stand the Dead Victory on his feet. All they are able to do is to keep the carcass off the ground by dividing the burden (Reprinted from Louis Rosenthal, Sculptor)
Blind Bacchante
Can you imagine a "Blind Bacchante" with eyes perfect in their sightlessness? A work so delicate, so remarkable in its affliction one feels tears struggling to flow. In this minute creation there is revealed the work of one whose fingers were guided by something more than dexterity (Reprinted from Louis Rosenthal, Sculptor).
